How To Transfer A Nest Thermostat When You Move
Today's digital age has made life easier for us because we can now do almost everything with our digital devices. It goes without saying that these hi-tech devices need to be moved along with the rest of your stuff when you move homes.

Previously, moving just entailed relocating your actual stuff. All of your furniture, including couches, tables, and lamps, was packaged and transported to your new home. But, in today's high-tech world, what do you do with your smart home items when they need to be moved?

Moving home automation devices such as Nest thermostats, smoke alarms, or security cameras entails more than simply unplugging and packing them; software systems and personal accounts must be updated before they can function at your new address. To ensure that all of your Nest products are properly installed or transferred during your relocation, follow these helpful tips.

What are Google’s Nest Thermostats?

As we progress further into the digital age, we are learning how to incorporate even our daily routines into our own digital universe. Nowadays, we accomplish everything remotely using our smartphones or mobile devices.

A simple tap on the phone can manage the home's security system and lights in most modern homes. This, of course, includes the thermostat in the home. This is where Google’s Nest comes into play.

The Google Nest Thermostat is a programmable smart thermostat that allows you to control your home's heating and cooling from anywhere in the world with only a few taps on your smartphone. Furthermore, it is a learning thermostat that you can program to adjust to your schedule automatically, eliminating the need for you to use your phone to regulate the heating and cooling in your house. Google Nest can even employ a mode that detects whether or not there are humans in the house, allowing it to save energy by not heating or cooling it.

Transferring Nest Devices

To begin, you'll need to get rid of any existing products in your house and replace them with your Nest devices. If you rent your house, make sure you've discussed the changeover with your landlord and maintenance personnel. They'll be able to show you how to correctly remove and store the previous items.

After that, setting up your Nest devices is simple — just follow the set-up videos given on the support website. The smoke detector and security camera systems should be simple to set up, but the thermostat may require a little more expertise.

After you've installed all of your devices, you'll want to link your new house to your Nest account. You must have two homes on your Nest account before you can remove one, so you'll have to add the new address to your account before removing the old one.

Adding Homes from Your Nest Account

Open the Nest app on your Pc or smartphone to add a home. On your home account screen, click the menu button and then the "Add" symbol in the upper right corner. The software will guide you through the process of entering your current address.

After that, you can get rid of your old house. Simply return to the home screen and select the previous place using the menu icon.
