Steps to pack a printer for your move
Printers are fragile and they need extra care and added protection while packing them for a move. Here are some tips that will help you pack your printer in the right way before moving.

While moving your belongings, your electronic items need extra care. Printers are fragile and need to be taken care of while transiting. Need professional assistance to pack your belongings? Contact our local movers and storage moving company.

Below are a few steps that will help you to pack your printer for the move.

STEP 1: PREPARE THE MOVING BOX

Preparing the moving box is the foremost step in packing a printer for a move. If you have the original package that came with the printer, you can use it. The cardboard box should be able to keep the printer safe during transit. Here are a few considerations to take while preparing your moving box.

  • Prefer a box that is larger than the printer.
  • Include styrofoams while packing.
  • Seal the cardboard box's bottom for a secure grip.

STEP 2: PACK THE CARTRIDGES SEPARATELY

Ink cartridges are delicate and need to be sealed separately and detached from the printer. If your cartridges are left inside the printer, ink leakage may occur. You don't want ink splattered all over your moving box. Prefer a smooth packing material to carefully pack the cartridges.

STEP 3: SECURE THE PRINTER CABLES

Electrical cables can easily get tangled while packing, and untangling them can be a challenging task later on, and it may even cause the wires to get damaged. Make sure to carefully detach and pack each electronic wire separately. Few printers arrive with fixed cables that can’t be removed. Such cables need to be sealed and packed alongside the printer. Masking tape can help you secure the ends of the cable and the printer. The USB cable should be disconnected and untangled from the printer before wrapping and securing it in an accessory box.

STEP 4: CAREFULLY WRAP THE PRINTER USING PACKING MATERIALS

Now is the time to put in all of your efforts!  Printers or any other electronic devices need extra protection while transporting. Your printer should be packed once you've prepared the cardboard box, separated the cartridges, and secured the cables. The most common method of packing a printer is with bubble wrap. You can double-seal the printer with two layers of bubble wrapping. Secure the bubble wrap's edges with packing tape.

STEP 5: PACK THE PRINTER INTO THE BOX

It's finally time to move your printer to its new home! A step-by-step procedure is provided below.

  1. Make sure styrofoam is placed beneath and the bottom is sealed.
  2. Slowly lift the packed printer and place it in the box, leaving space for cartridges and cables to fit through.
  3. Now place the cartridges and printer cables in two different positions.
  4. If you observe extra spaces in the box make sure to fill them with styrofoam for an extra protective layer.
  5. Place a plastic sheet on the above and seal the cardboard box immediately with packing tape on all four sides.
  6. Finally, label the cardboard box.
